Where to go in Japan for Six Days: Kyoto Travel II

We left the hostel at 10:00 am, again, we’re late..
There’s a long line on each Bus Station, we already bought the ¥500 Kyoto City Bus Pass in our Hostel.

Again, better to maximize this one, if you can and if you still have energy ?. Tip: start your trip early, so you can see more tourist spots, cause traffic becomes worst during peak hours. And go first to temples, some of it closed early. (Go here for Kinkakuji Shrine)

While waiting for Bus 100 (bound to Kiyomizudera temple), the temperature went down. It went to 3 degrees. There’s something circling around us, we thought it’s a dust. And guess what? it’s snow. Yup, it’s snowing!!!?

It’s really hard to walk in uphill. ?

And here we are in Kiyomizudera temple ?

They said that this can help you heal, not sure though ?

Love stones
Behind Kiyomizudera’s main hall stands Jishu Shrine, a shrine dedicated to the deity of love and matchmaking. In front of the shrine are two stones, placed 18 meters apart. Successfully finding your way from one to the other with your eyes closed is said to bring luck in finding love. You can also have someone guide you from one stone to the other, but that is interpreted to mean that an intermediary will be needed in your love life as well.

Of course, we didn’t try, ’cause we might hurt ourselves (not to mention, it will be so embarrassing), haha!!

It’s so cold, that we can’t feel our fingers. They are so numb.
So we went to some store, to buy some mochi, with free taste ?

Then we go to the Sannenzaka and Ninenzaka

After exiting Kiyomizu Temple, a short stroll down the narrow road will lead you to Sannenzaka and Ninenzaka.

We realized that it will be a long walk to Yasaka Shrine, we decided to have some lunch first.

We bumped into Geisha in Gion on our way to Yasaka Shrine. ?

After Yasaka Shrine…we head to Kyoto station then ride the bus to Ginkakuji, unfortunately when we got there, it was already closed, so we just went to Philosopher’s Path

And because it’s snowing again ? we decided to head back to our hostel to rest for a while before going to Tokyo via Willer Bus.

I need some pain reliever or energy drink? I think my legs are already giving up and we’re just on our Second Day ?

  1. Considering how disastrous my love life is I could sure do with some help from the mystical love stones haha! And I love the sound of the Kiyomizudera temple which is absolutely spectacular but then what you would expect from Kyota. Did they have the Japanese Blossom trees in the same area or is that somewhere else in Japan?

  2. Kyoto is a place you cannot miss if you’re ever in Japan especially if you’re in Osaka since it’s quite near! I think the temples are all worth seeing. Japan is just so beautiful! I’d love to go there someday!

  3. It`s one of my biggest dream to visit as many Asian countries as I can. So far, I haven`t been traveled to any but I know I will make it happen. I am lucky enough to have Taiwanese friends and I can`t wait to visit them this year. China, Japan and Korea are next on the list. Weather is something I don`t take into account as I always plan to see so many touristic objectives in short amount of time. Then I remember I need to relax and do as the locals: breath and enjoy the local beauties. Glad to see you were prepared with warm gloves.
PS: If you keen on Japanese culture, you can read Geisha by Liza Dalby better than the Memoirs of a Geisha.

  4. My brother and his partner are off travelling in a few weeks and I know that Japan is one of their destinations that they plan on going to, so will certainly be sharing this with them.

  5. My friends visited Kyoto and Tokyo and they said it was an amazing trip! They felt in love in Japan and when they returned home they started eating only in Japanese restaurants 🙂 I really enjoyed reading your post!

  6. I haven’t had the chance to visit Japan. But, I’ve heard a lot about Japan from friends/family who have gone. You all seem to have such a wonderful time. You definitely have pushed this trip further up on my list of must go!

  7. What an amazing holiday. The temple looks so gorgeous and I’d love to see the waterfall.
I’ve never traveled but I’m dying to and Japan is definitely on the list of must see places!
