Long Weekend in Chicago: The windy city – I

We decided to visit Chicago for weekend, cause there’s a promo return flight in porter to Toronto.

But we booked our departure tickets from Greyhound. Toronto to Chicago that will take 12 hours.

We depart Friday night, at 6:30 pm and arrived at Chicago at 5:30 am.
In reality it will just take 8 hours, but because there’s a lot of stop overs, so we need to endure the long travel time.

From Greyhound terminal, we walked to the nearest subway station to Damen station, where our hostel is. We bought 3-day pass in subway for $20 + $5 for the card.

Apparently, the hostel is not yet open until 7:00 am.
So we just stayed in Starbucks until they’re open. (and wash our faces while we’re there ?)

Cause we’re early check in, we left our luggages and ate breakfast before touring around.

The temperature was 14-16 degrees Celsius, but because it’s windy, it feels like 8 degrees ?

First we go to the well-known The Bean, and just took our photos of with it.
There are a lot of tourists that you’ll have a difficult time taking photos (not quite). So we decided to go back again tomorrow morning before sunrise ?.

Around The Bean are some architectures.

We roam around and finally see this too ?

Time for lunch and we’re going for deep dish.
We search some of high rate deep dish. For our first one, we tried Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria.

We waited for 30 minutes for the pizza. Hmm, it was so so, I was expecting a thick deep dish,?…. but the crust is good ?

We’re so full and we need to walk..but didn’t realized that it will be a long walk for the perfect view of Chicago skyline.

After that, we look for the nearest Garrett, but it turns out it is not near, LOL. We passed The Bean for it. But the popcorn was so good ?

We’re out of energy, not to mention sleepy. Had a hard time sleeping in the bus, actually I just had 1 hour sleep. So I really need to sleep, stat..

We went back to hostel around 4:00 pm and sleep around 6:00 pm.

  1. This looks like so much fun! Thanks for giving such a detailed account of your weekend, I always love hearing what other people enjoyed in other cities.

  2. My husband’s best friend lives in Chicago and he visits there every year and brings us back a tin of Garett’s popcorn. I think it is a lovely city in the downtown areas.
