Machu Picchu has been popular and lots of tourists been visiting to see this amazing place. Especially when it’s summer. You won’t want to go there if it’s rainy season. We scheduled our visit last October 2019. Luckily we just experienced cloudy and sunny.

We booked our tickets like a week before our preferred date, since it has still slots with the specific time we want. But if it is like peak season, you might want to book it as early as possible. The ticket cost like, 152 sol or $45.

From Cusco, we booked our train with Inca Rail to Aguas Calientes or Machu Picchu Pueblo. It took us like 4 hours. There’s a lot of accommodations to choose from, from budget to expensive one, it includes pack lunch. You can choose between Inca Rail or Peru Rail to go to Machu Picchu.

When we got to Aguas Calientes, first thing we did, is to check in in our hostel, and find the bus ticket to Machu Picchu. The bus round trip cost is 84 sol or $24.

Our tour time is at 7pm. Be sure to get some breakfast. Most of the hostels/hotel includes breakfast as early as 5am. By the we get to the waiting are, the line is so long, and we’re so early. But it’s fine, since there’s like vans that will accommodate all of that are scheduled on a specific time. Just be there like 1 hour before your scheduled time.

The drive is 20 mins from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu. As expected, it will be like more or less 300 people per hour who will enter Machu Picchu. Selfie is not allowed, as well as other things. Prohibited items are all in their site. We don’t have any tour guide. If you’re gonna do the hike to other 2 mountains, you might want to have a guide.
